Yuri Jang, associate professor at The University of Texas at Austin’s School of Social Work, is the new Secretary-Elect of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), the nation’s largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to the field of aging.

GSA announced its newest elected officers on April 18, 2017. These individuals were chosen by GSA’s membership, which consists of more than 5,500 researchers, educators, and practitioners. The officers are responsible for matters of governance and strategic planning and represent the society’s four membership sections and its Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization. They will assume their new roles in November.

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) is the nation’s oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging. The principal mission of the Society — and its 5,500+ members — is to advance the study of aging and disseminate information among scientists, decision makers, and the general public. GSA’s structure also includes a policy institute, the National Academy on an Aging Society, and an educational unit, the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education.
