Documentary filmmaker Charlie Minn will discuss the drug-related violence that has tragically murdered over 100,000 people in Mexico since 2006, when former president Felipe Calderón declared war on the drug cartels. The talk will include video clips from Minn’s trilogy about the drug-related violence in Juarez, Mexico: “8 Murders a Day,” “Murder Capital of the World,” and “The New Juarez.” You can watch trailers of the three documentaries here.
Charlie Minn is a documentary filmmaker from New York. The focus of his work is true-crime, and he has made over ten documentaries since 2010. His first documentary, “A Nightmare in Las Cruces,” was sold to Lions Gate in 2011. His documentary “The New Juarez” opens in Austin on April 19th. Part of the proceeds go to victims of violence in Juarez.
