Dr. Frederic Reamer

The featured speaker is Dr. Frederic Reamer, a professor in the graduate program of the School of Social Work, Rhode Island College. His research and teaching have addressed a wide range of human service issues, including mental health, health care, criminal justice, public welfare, and professional ethics. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Social Work Education and Associate Editor of the NASW Encyclopedia of Social Work. Dr. Reamer has authored many books and articles, and served as chair of the national task force that wrote the current Code of Ethics adopted by the National Association of Social Workers. He has appeared on numerous National Public Radio shows (including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and This I Believe) as an essayist, commentator, host, and guest speaker. Dr. Reamer is also the recipient of numerous awards, including the “Distinguished Contributions to Social Work Education” award from the Council on Social Work Education, and the Presidential Award from the National Association of Social Workers.
