Credit/No Credit Courses

Graduate School policy states that no more than twenty percent (20 percent) of the required credit hours in a program of work can be taken on a credit/no credit basis (CR/NC). Core courses must be taken for a letter grade. Courses offered only on the credit/no credit basis are not included in the twenty percent.

Within a typical doctoral program, approximately two courses may be taken for optional credit/no credit within a typical doctoral program. Courses taken beyond the required program of work can be taken as CR/NC.

A student must perform at a B- or better level in order for the course to count in the student’s program of work.  An overall 3.0 GPA (Grade Point Average) excluding dissertation courses is necessary in order to graduate.
