There are three different ways you can be involved with Austin’s SWAN Chapter. One way is to be a Board member–this means you would help to lead the Austin Chapter in its interests and goals, and assist with such activities as event planning and fundraising. The second way is to attend various events we hold, and the third way is to volunteer some of your time.
Become a Board Member
- Board members are asked to attend at at least three out of four board meetings annually.
- Board meetings are held quarterly for two to three hours.
- Some committee work is expected of Board members between Board meetings.
- Board members are asked to contribute to the SWAN fund once a year.
Become an At-Large Member
If you would like to be involved in Austin SWAN activities, such as the Graduation BBQ or the Social Work Alumni Reunion, but cannot commit to the meeting attendance of a Board Member, maybe being a SWAN At-Large Member is for you. You would represent the SWAN general membership and assist with our activities, but not be required to attend our Board meetings.
Volunteer
We love volunteers! Please consider volunteering for your favorite SWAN activity.
