Plan on having the following items before orientation and starting school:
- Set up Duo Authentication. To increase security, multi-factor authentication (Duo) will be required to access most online services that require a UT EID login.
- UTmail account is a branded G Suite service that provides eligible members of the University of Texas at Austin community with a University-affiliated @utexas email address.
- Check your email address. Since email is the official form of communication from the University, make sure the email address you listed is the correct one. Follow these steps:
- Go to my.utexas.edu
- On the left-hand side, click on ‘Personal Info”
- From the drop-down menu, click ‘My Addresses’
- In the section labeled ‘Student Records-Email Address’, change email here
- Once new email is entered, click on ‘Update This Address’ in this section.
- You will need an official UTexas Zoom account. Some students experience trouble when trying to create their UT Zoom account. If you have a personal account in Zoom, it automatically logs you into your personal account. If you encounter this, then you will need to click on your profile in Zoom, scroll down under the “Options” and select “Switch Account” to successfully set your UT Zoom. - UT EID Upgrades and Student IDs. To obtain a student ID or upgrading your UT EID to high assurance, it can be done through the UT ID Center. Please visit their website for up-to-date information.
- IT prepaid account through ITS for printing privileges
- Need a computer or software? Get discounts at the campus Computer Store
- Obtain parking permit – if you plan to park on campus
- Social workers’ desk reference– You will be given a promo code for a discounted rate at orientation.
- Malpractice liability insurance: For those students entering the two-year program, you will be receiving a letter from the Field Office before orientation.
- If you need academic accommodations for classes and exams, make sure you register with Services for Students with Disabilities.
- Make sure the university has your current health and immunization records.
